JBR is a great family friendly beach, where your kids would be excited to play. The coastline here stretches for 1 mile. It is shallow and the beach boasts fine, golden-hued sand. The bottom of the sea is safe, covered with smooth sand that is free of stones. The water is clear, although not entirely transparent. You won’t find any seaweed or sea urchins here, only fish.
Sunbathing at JBR Beach
While you can relax on your own towel, you should note that there’s no natural shade on the beach. At JBR Beach Dubai you can also sunbathe right on the lush green grass, or in designated spots in the park for that purpose.
Amenities at JBR Beach
Nowadays the area offers clean environment with restrooms, changing cabins, and showers. It is regularly patrolled by the police, and the lifeguards are on duty. At local beach clubs you can rent a sun lounger and parasol.

- Note that some areas of the beach belong to nearby hotels. To sunbathe there, you’ll need to buy a day pass or be a guest at those hotels.
- Pets are not allowed to swim at JBR Beach.
- There are no lifeguards on duty at night, so your safety is in your hands during nighttime hours.

This beach is an ideal place for families: it is located within a short walk from one of Dubai’s finest districts, Dubai Marine.
- A 5-minute walk from the beach will lead you to a hub of restaurants, cafes, fast-food points, entertainment spaces, and shops. This retail complex is called The Beach and is situated next to The Walk.
- You can also find spots on the beach offering ice cream and cocktails.
- You might also see some camels right on the beach, and have a ride for a fee. It lasts for approximately 20 minutes and will cost you 149 AED or $41.
Sports at JBR
If you are into sport, near the beach you’ll find:
- Tennis and volleyball courts, as well as an outdoor gym.
- You can run a 2,000-foot (0.6-kilometer) jogging track, or rent a bicycle to ride along the boardwalk.

If you are with kids, there’s a dedicated area on the beach called JBR Beach Playground. Here, you can seek shelter from the sun under the shade of the awning roof. While you relax, your children can enjoy riding the swings and playing on the slides.
Additionally, your kids would love to play at Splash Pad, a fun splash park for kids right on the beach (which is a part of the children’s water park, Splash n Party Kids Dubai).

Particularly noteworthy is the temperature-controlled “glasshouse” Pavilion at The Beach. It features a retractable roof and a bunch of restaurants within 1.5-acre space. Most restaurants are open until 11:00 PM, though some may continue serving until 1:00 AM.
