Umm Suqeim Beach

by Cyril Kardashevsky

Umm Suqeim Beach, also known as Public Beach or Sunset Beach, is a popular and picturesque public beach situated along Jumeirah Beach Road on the coastline of the Arabian Gulf in Dubai. It is conveniently located just a mile away from the Burj-Al-Arab hotel, half a mile from the Wild Wadi Water Park, and 2 miles away from the Kite Beach. Although relatively small, stretching only 0.4 miles in length, Umm Suqeim Beach holds its unique charm.

umm suqeim beach

Umm Suqeim Beach is a popular and clean beach in Dubai, perfect for both swimmers and surfers to unwind.

Umm Suqeim Beach boasts fine, soft sand without an abundance of shells, making it an ideal spot for relaxation. The clear, turquoise waters of the Arabian Gulf are incredibly clean, enticing visitors to take a refreshing dip. The water gradually deepens here, providing a safe and enjoyable experience for swimmers and kids. Vintage buildings and installations contribute a distinctive ambiance to the beach area.

Because of the often waves, Umm Suqeim Beach is loved by both swimmers and surfers, offering separate areas for each activity. The beach is divided into swim-only zones with a line of buoys and a dedicated surf area. For added safety, lifeguards are stationed on the beach, overseeing the surroundings from two observation towers.

Umm Suqeim Beach is equipped with essential amenities (such as showers, toilets, and changing cabins), and it’s also accessible to people with disabilities.

While the beach itself lacks extensive facilities, visitors often bring their own towels or beach mats for sunbathing purposes. It is worth noting that there are no changing cabins available, so arriving in a swimsuit is recommended for convenience.

Tip. It’s important to mention that overcrowding at the beach often results in the full occupancy of both toilets and changing cabins. So, it’s quite common to find yourself queuing for more than 10 minutes in such situations.

In summary, Umm Suqeim Beach is a real gem among Dubai’s municipal beaches, attracting visitors with its natural splendor, inviting waters, and the opportunity for both swimming and surfing. Despite the limited amenities, this beach offers a truly enjoyable beach experience.
